Damaged Photos
For the purpose of this category I have focused on damaged photos that are quite mild and moderate. Of course damages to the photos can be much more severe and serious than I have shown in the examples above.
Some photos can become unsightly through everyday use or handling but more often than not it is elements such as direct sunlight that will cause fading through time. Sometimes this may occur to just one part of the photo that has had more exposure to the sunlight than the rest. These type of photos can normally be rectified quite quickly as it is usually a case of contrast or colour enhancement that is required and a few touch ups here and there.
Believe it or not if it is just a portion of the photo rather than the whole photo that has faded, then these types of damaged photos will take longer. The reason for this is that you have to ensure that the damaged area blends in with the rest in order that it looks quite natural, therefore single click photo restoration techniques would enhance the damaged area but also enhance the good area so the problem will still be noticeable.
Tears and rips is another common occurrence with photos. Quite often we receive photos with a tear through them or maybe someone has stuck tape on the photo and when they have tried to remove it, they have also removed part of the photo.
Most small rips and tears can be rectified quite quickly. When working on damaged photos of this nature we use a technique called cloning. Basically this involves copying a portion from a good area of the photo and then placing it over the missing area. This is all well and good if you have an area to copy from. The problems start to occur when it is something like three quarters of someone’s face that has been removed or the bottom half of the photo is completely missing. These types of photos are still repairable but obviously different techniques are used and more time is required to carry out the repairs.
The damaged photos that you can see above are quite modest and as such can normally be repaired relatively quickly saving time and of course money. In general repairs such as these can normally be accomplished within about half an hour or so.
A good photo restoration service should be able to look at a photo and give a close estimate of cost based on the time they think it will take to repair the damaged photos. They should also be able to give some kind of indication as to how they will look after the photos have been repaired. By using our services you don’t even have to worry about that. We will give you an estimate prior to commencing but if you are not pleased with the end result you will still not have to pay a penny.
